Absolutely brilliant crime drama hailed next | UK News
Fans of detective dramas are being urged to watch a British crime drama hailed ‘close to flawless’.
The bingeable sequence, which initially aired on ITV back in 2016, follows a group of UK detectives working for the fictional Woodmere police pressure.
As they examine the homicide of a local doctor who was stabbed in a playground, they uncover homicide has hyperlinks to a German pharmaceutical company.
Paranoid is the sequence in query and it’s accessible to stream on Netflix now.
Fans have taken to IMDb reviews to share their ideas on the drama, with one saying: “Absolutely brilliant!! I loved it!! It’s on par with the series Broadchurch. I just love British police dramas!!”
Another viewer said it was “near flawless”, including: “What Paranoid isn’t is American-style heroism, ridiculous gun fights, yelling, and bravado. What this is, is a cleverly woven detective story with great dialogue, human characters with human flaws and emotions.
“This is also a telling story of the stranglehold the pharmaceutical industry has on society. I would really like nothing more than to see this group of writers, administrators, and forged reunited.”
A third fan praised actress Varma specifically, commenting: “Indira Varma, you are on a roll. I realized about Indira Varma from her position as Ellaria Sand on Game of Thrones and questioned if she would do the rest.
“She sure did. Paranoid is a slick thriller focusing on an investigation into a murder, wherein the connections link far and wide. You’re sure to find it fascinating. There are a lot of surprises here. Definitely see it.”
A last viewer hailed the show “excellent, tense, twisty and gripping”, concluding: “I have only just watched this series on Netflix and highly recommend it if you like superb acting, well developed characters and a scarily believable plot.”
Paranoid is set in the small fictional city of Woodmere, where detectives Michael Niles (Neil Stuke), Nina Suresh (Varma), Alec Wayfield (Fetscher) and Bobby Day (Glenister) start to piece together what occurred after Doctor Angela Benton took her three-year-old son Luke to the playground.
Angela is brutally attacked by a man whose face is roofed from view and his earlier weird behaviour is seen by eyewitness Lucy Cannonbury (Lesley Sharp).
Televisual’s synopsis continues: “As the investigation deepens – and darkens – detectives realise they are in a mammoth battle with a formidable global foe whose dark dealings reach into every corner of the world.”
