Amy Coney Barrett responds to constitutional

Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett expressed her perception that there may be no ‘constitutional disaster’ in an interview with a conservative media outlet.

“Look, I feel the Constitution is alive and effectively,” Barrett acknowledged at an event selling her new e-book, Listening to the Law. The interview happened at Lincoln Center with Bari Weiss, founder of the conservative digital media platform, The Free Press.

“I do not know what a constitutional disaster would appear like,” added Barrett, who was appointed by Trump in 2020. “I think that our country remains committed to the rule of law. I think we have functioning courts. I think a constitutional crisis – we would clearly be in one if the rule of law crumbles. But that is not the place where we are.”

Despite Barrett’s perception that there is not a constitutional disaster, other consultants have voiced their issues about the potential onset of such a disaster.

Weiss questioned Barrett about the diminishing public trust in the Supreme Court, a development that Barrett admitted issues her. “I would like Americans to trust the institution of the court,” she said, describing it as “an institution that does operate with integrity.

“I’m not saying that the court always will get it proper. … I do not assume the court is above criticism or that I’m above criticism or something like that. But I do assume Americans ought to trust that the court is attempting to get it proper.”

The news comes after earlier reviews from June confirmed that conservative cohorts of Donald Trump have been privately telling the President that they think Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett is ‘weak’ in private conversations.
