An Antiques Roadshow guest was left gobsmacked after listening to the true value of a household heirloom. The hit BBC sequence returned on Sunday night (June 21) and revisited the gorgeous Beaumaris Castle on the island of Anglesey, north Wales.
Members of the public have been fast to show off their prized possessions for valuation by specialists, and issues took a shocking flip when Joanna Hardy got here across an “extraordinary” piece of jewelry. Looking down at the beautiful gold bracelet, Joanna commented: “This bracelet is just glistening in the sun here”, before including, “And we’ve got the gold nuggets which is as if they’d come out of the ground. I mean they just look extraordinary.”
The guest then shared how she got here about proudly owning the merchandise and said, “This was a bracelet that my grandfather gave to my grandmother.
“And my grandfather labored in Segovia, in Colombia in the Frontino mines in the ’30s and ’40s. He was an engineer so I don’t consider he mimed those from fingers, but I feel he must have gotten those from there.”
Joanna then delved deeper into the history of the piece, and said: “It would have been forward of its time for the ’30s. If we predict about ’30s jewelry and the Art Deco jewelry and its diamonds and it’s all very geometric.”
The guest also brought in photographs of her grandfather and grandmother from Colombia. Talking more about the bracelet, Joanna quipped: “It’s just received that uncooked vitality about it”. The guest then declared, “I find it irresistible when I put on it.”
After admiring the piece, Joanna gave her verdict. She said: “If this bracelet got here to public sale, I feel it could fetch in the area of £5,000.”
The guest was visibly stunned. “Wow,” she said, before pausing. “Okay, wow… that’s fairly a lot more than I assumed.”
She added, “Oh, everyone says that I do know. But actually, that’s a lot more than I assumed. Thank you very a lot!”
Delighted by the guest’s reaction, Joanna smiled and declared: “Oh, you’ve made me tingle as effectively!”
