Antiques Roadshow guest was left speechless by | TV Shows

One of the latest Antiques Roadshow guests was left stunned at the price of a painting that has been in her family for generations.

Guests on the reality show are often left in disbelief, and sometimes in tears, from jaw-dropping valuations.

During the last episode, a middle aged woman came in with a 1925 oil painting that she received from her grandparents.

Her grandfather was a surgeon in Philadelphia and one of his patients was American painter Fern Coppedge. With the art industry, she is known as the “best women artist” of a group called the Pennsylvania impressionists.

“I believe that this painting was something that Fern gave my grandfather in gratitude for the surgery that he performed on her,” she shared. The painting recreates a place called Goat Hill, a place close to where she resides in Pennsylvania.

“Oh my goodness,” she responded as she caught her breath. “You’re taking my breath away.”

He jokingly stated the obvious: “You seem surprised.”

“I’m stunned. I’m totally stunned,” the guest said. “I didn’t even think about bringing this. This was a last-minute ‘Oh, well, why don’t we take this one too.’”

Before she thanked him, the appraiser confirmed she “chose well.”

Her reaction was found endearing by viewers.

On Instagram, one said: “I love her reaction and am happy for her.”

Another commented: “She had such a darling reaction!”

A third chimed in: “So refreshing to see this reaction most are like well isnt that nice lol.”

Antiques Roadshow airs Mondays on PBS at 9 pm EST.
