A new batch of emojis are coming to Apple merchandise this spring with the new iOS 26.4 update, including one acquainted — and controversial — face emoji.
Eight new emojis have been authorized by the Unicode Consortium, a nonprofit that decides which emojis come to your telephone, in the summer season of 2025, and now they’ll be added to devices and platforms.

The “distorted face” emoji has brought about fairly a stir on social media, giving followers déjà vu to Apple’s controversial advert from 2024.
Many have made the connection to the iPad Pro Crush! advert, which obtained a ton of backlash at the time — and Apple even had to issue a public apology.
The advert depicts the crushing and flattening of issues like musical devices, paints, cameras, books, films, sculptures — plus a little yellow face that appears to be like just just like the new distorted face emoji. The new emojis are already out there to those who participate in the Apple Beta Software Program, and they’ll be out there widely with the iOS 26.4 update.
At the time of reporting, Apple has not announced an official release date for the update, but they did be aware that it’s anticipated this spring.
Technically, customers of Apple merchandise can create their own emojis with Apple Intelligence’s Genmoji function, but these new additions are half of the cross-platform emoji normal since they’ve approval from the Unicode Consortium.
