After 20 years together as both bandmates and romantic companions, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne have split.
On Thursday, the pair shared the news on the group’s official Instagram web page.

“After a long and loving marriage, Win & Régine have decided to separate,” the assertion started. “They continue to love, admire and support each other as they co-parent their son.”
“Their work in Haiti with KANPE continues and their bond as creative soulmates will endure, as weill Arcade Fire,” the message continued, hinting at the music group’s future. “The band sends their love and look forward to seeing you all on tour soon.”
Butler, 45, and Chassagne, 49, tied the knot in 2003 before welcoming their son in 2013.

In 2022, Butler was accused of inappropriate misconduct by 4 people. Butler maintained that the relationships have been consensual.
According to Pitchfork, three of the accusers have been girls who said their relationships have been inappropriate due to an age hole and “power dynamics” between them and the singer.
The girls said the interactions happened between 2016 and 2020, when they have been between the ages of 18 and 23, per the outlet. Butler was 36-39 during the alleged interactions.

One particular person was gender-fluid and claimed that Butler inappropriately assaulted them twice in 2015 when they have been 21 years previous.
Chassagne stood by her husband’s aspect.

Butler, who fashioned the indie-rock group in 2001, also denied any wrongdoing through a spokesman.
“There is no easy way to say this, and the hardest thing I have ever done is having to share this with my son. The majority of these relationships were short lived, and my wife is aware – our marriage has, in the past, been more unconventional than some,” he said in a assertion.
While including that he was “not proud” of stepping out on his spouse, Butler burdened that “every single one of these interactions has been mutual and always between consenting adults.”

“I have never touched a woman against her will,” he reiterated, “and any implication that I have is simply false. I vehemently deny any suggestion that I forced myself on a woman or demanded inappropriate favors. That simply, and unequivocally, never happened.”
Butler’s assertion concluded: “While these relationships were all consensual, I am very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behavior. Life is filled with tremendous pain and error, and I never want to be part of causing someone else’s pain.”
In 2011, Arcade Fire received a Grammy for Album of the Year for their album “The Suburbs.”

The group has continued to put out music in the 12 months’s since, with their last LP, “Pink Elephant,” being launched this past May.
