The Athletics locked up a piece of their young core.
All-Star shortstop Jacob Wilson and the A’s reached an settlement on a seven-year extension that consists of a membership option for a potential eighth 12 months, the group announced on Friday.
The deal is price $70 million, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed.

Wilson, 23, is coming off a stellar rookie season where he put up a slash line of .311/.355/.444 with 26 doubles and 13 home runs.
Wilson’s .311 batting average was tied for second in the American League with Bo Bichette, trailing just Aaron Judge (.331).
His efforts earned him his first profession All-Star look as he completed second for American League Rookie of the Year race fellow A’s teammate Nick Kurtz.
Wilson’s extension comes as the Athletics continue to construct their young offensive core, with the group already having outfielders Tyler Soderstrom and Lawrence Butler under contract until at least 2030.
The Athletics chosen Wilson with the No. 6 total choose in the 2023 MLB Draft, and he rapidly made his approach to the big leagues, spending just 83 video games in the minors before being called up at the end of 2024.
When talking to reporters at the end of this past season, Wilson said that it was “an honor” to be in the AL batting title dialogue alongside Judge.
“I’ve been trailing that guy all year,” Wilson said in September. “It’s positively an honor to be in the same class as him with the 12 months he’s had. It’s superior just to find a way to compete with him.
“I’m still a couple of points behind him, but I’m just going out there every day having fun playing baseball with these guys for the last time this season.”
