BBC Breakfast presenter Charlie Stayt is reportedly set to face an investigation by bosses into bullying complaints in a new blow to the broadcaster. BBC hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt are both allegedly “under review” after a string of complaints reportedly accused the pair of bullying, rudeness, and behaviour said to have “undermined staff”.

The veteran presenters are said to now be going through the chance of a formal investigation, following studies of growing unrest behind the scenes of the BBC‘s flagship morning show. Stayt, 63, has reportedly been swept into the scandal just days after co-host Munchetty, 50, was accused of creating a “toxic” atmosphere on set.

“Charlie and Naga will be assessed separately,” a source told The Sun. “A number of people have come forward to share their experiences with Charlie, so the BBC has officially moved to their complaints under review.”

The BBC told Express.co.uk: “While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously and will not tolerate behaviour that is not in line with our values.”

The spokesperson added: “We have robust processes in place and would encourage any staff with concerns to raise them directly with us so they can be addressed.” Representatives of Charlie Stayt have also been contacted for remark.

The review comes amid broader considerations about the tradition on BBC Breakfast, sparked by a separate probe into the programme’s director, Richard Frediani, whose conduct was also subject to investigation. He has since returned to work.

An inner review has now been initiated, with some studies indicating that an exterior guide has been introduced in to assess complaints about bullying, rudeness, and behaviour that humiliated junior workers.

Both Stayt and Munchetty have yet to reply publicly to the claims, but morale behind the scenes is said to be “at breaking point”.
