BBC Breakfast halted for tribute as child dies months | UK News

Charlie Stayt and Emma Vardy halted  BBC Breakfast for half-hour on Saturday as the show broadcast a very particular section devoted to Kevin Sinfield and his mission to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Kevin visited many cities and cities this 12 months as half of his mission to full seven ultramarathons in support of MND. He also met many people along the way in which, including those who have been identified with the condition.

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive, life-shortening condition affecting nerve cells (motor neurones) in the mind and spinal wire that control muscle motion, main to rising muscle weak spot, losing, and paralysis.

However, in a heartbreaking flip, just days before Kevin’s arrival in Swansea, Kyle Sieniawski died of MND at the age of 14, less than a 12 months after being identified. BBC Breakfast went on to show a clip of Kyle 12 months before he died. The teenager was described as “full of life and full of mischief.”

While Kevin never bought to meet Kyle, he did pay a go to to Kyle’s household, who thanked the rugby star for every thing he was doing to raise awareness of MND.

Kyle’s mum, Melanie, said her son was “brilliant”. She shared, “He was always joking around. If you look at him in old videos, you were recording him, and he’d always come straight up to the video and stop me from recording, wouldn’t he?

“That’s what I observed in the last couple of days, anyway, when I’ve been trying at them.”

Kyle’s dad, Mark, joked, “He was a troublemaker, his character shone proper through, and he never once complained.”

Kyle had been displayin symptoms for “fairly some time,” but the MND diagnosis “got here as a large shock” to the family.

Mark went on, “We actually need to get awareness on the market and keep pushing it. It could be horrendous to watch.”

“It can have an effect on anyone of any age at any time,” Melanie added, “They need as a lot fundraising awareness as they will have to get a remedy as soon as doable.”

As Kyle’s condition worsened, he was unable to return home. The family stayed by his bedside in the hospital for almost a year, although his body was failing him, his spirit remained undiminished.

Mark said about his son, “He touched so many people, to be completely sincere, he was he is superb. He had banter and laughter with all people.

“We had so many strangers come to visit him throughout the country, to be perfectly honest, people who were touched by MND.”
