BBC viewers announced they have been switching off the latest episode of Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. The presenter was joined by a quantity of company, including Welfare Secretary Pat McFadden, Conservative MP Alex Burghart and Plaid Cymru chief Rhun ap Iorwerth. As anticipated, the main dialogue centred on the escalating scandal surrounding Lord Peter Mandelson. 

Keir Starmer is under intense stress after it was revealed he appointed Mandelson as the UK’s ambassador to the US despite being conscious of his continued friendship with intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein. Although the prime minister publicly apologised to Epstein’s victims for “believing Mandelson’s lies”, hypothesis is rife over whether or not Starmer can survive the scandal.

But just minutes into the programme, fans took to social media to complain about the presenter as they accused her of being too focussed on “bringing Starmer down” and “revelling” in his discomfort.

One fumed: “You can almost see her salivating. I’ve had to turn over. I can just imagine the party she’ll have if Starmer goes and she thinks she had a hand in it. US President is posting racist memes and no one seems to care. The sooner she goes the better.”

A second agreed: “LK revelling in the PM’s discomfort. What a surprise especially since the media, especially the BBC, have substantially whipped up the crisis.”

Another echoed: “#bbclaurak is more interested in bringing down Starmer than investigating Mandelson. A means to a political end…”

A fourth weighed in: “Mandelson [is] just more ammunition for people like LK to add to their record of weekly attacks on Starmer. #MSM have been on the attack against Labour from the beginning! Allegedly.”

“@Keir_Starmer is THE PRIME MINISTER. He ignores advice. He takes advice from people who give bad advice. He makes bad decisions and makes choices he doesn’t need to make. HE appointed McSweeney and Mandelson. The buck stops with him. He needs to resign,” one livid viewer commented.

Another raged: “Sorry I appointed a known friend of a convicted paedophile to be US ambassador, who surprise is a lying grifter, doesn’t cut it when it comes to his judgment, integrity or competency. Starmer is no longer to be trusted to lead the UK and should resign.”

A 3rd added: “This @UKLabour embroiled in scandal and our Prime Minister at the heart of it does not have the good grace to resign. Disgraceful people the lot of them. #BBCLauraK.”
