A coroner described the death of BBC presenter Lynda Shahwan as “unnatural”. The BBC star died days after being discharged from hospital following a car crash in Vancouver, an inquest opening at Pontypridd Coroner’s Court heard.
The inquest heard how Ms Shahwan, 53, on July 15, was a passenger in a car travelling with relations. The crash, which occurred in North Vancouver, prompted the vehicle to overturn, the inquest heard. Ms Shahwan, of Heath Way in Cardiff, was taken to Lions Gate Hospital in the Canadian metropolis and sustained a fractured rib, belly bruising, and pneumothorax, it was heard. She was discharged from hospital the next day, but was unfit to fly home, the court also heard.Â
