Music icon Billy Joel shocked a New York pedicab driver who was taking part in his hit, New York State of Mind, for his prospects.

The 76-year-old, who not too long ago admitted he does not care about “woke” views on him or his music, took to his Instagram on Monday, July 21, to share a video of the second.

The clip, taken from the backseat of a car, reveals Joel rolling down his window upon listening to his 1976 tune. The pedicab driver, not recognizing Joel at first, tells him, “next time,” for a experience, as he has two passengers in the backseat of his vehicle.

The pedicab driver then realizes Joel is staring at him from inside the vehicle and reaches out to shake his hand. “You see, we are playing you, man!” he shouts to the musician before making an attempt to take a image with him.

The two passengers have been shocked and excited to see the rock star, and one requested how he was feeling. “We’re in a New York State of Mind…all the time,” Joel captioned the video.

In May, Joel announced he was cancelling his concerts due to his diagnosis, noting his condition was “exacerbated by latest live performance performances.”
