Former BBC Radio 2 presenter Bob Harris has shared how he’s actually feeling about stepping down from his internet hosting duties. The 80-year-old has been battling cancer and needs to focus on “getting himself well again”, citing that as the rationale for quitting after 56 years on air.
He made the choice to step down at the start of June, but now he has admitted that it’s not what he would have chosen. Posting to Instagram, sharing some snaps of him smiling alongside co-stars such as Greg James, he wrote: “Having to stop work because of ill health is not what I would have chosen, but the massive positive is the quality time I am now able to spend with lovely friends.” Friends and followers have been fast to help him in the feedback. Zoe Ball, who also lately stepped down from her function at the BBC, said: “These pics Bob,” adopted by purple loveheart emojis.
