Boeing 757 Engine Bursts Into Flames Mid-Flight, Forcing Emergency Landing In City Without Enough Hotel Rooms For Everyone

Usually, it is a good factor to get a free journey to Italy. For the passengers aboard a Condor Airlines flight on Saturday from Corfu, Greece, to Düsseldorf, Germany, however, their free journey to Italy proved completely terrifying, as their Boeing 757 was pressured to make an emergency touchdown in the nation when one of its engines burst into flames mid-flight, the New York Post stories. When they landed at the Brindisi Airport in southern Italy, the passengers ran into yet another downside: there reportedly weren’t enough resort rooms for everybody, forcing some of them to spend the night time in the airport.

Two hundred and seventy-three passengers left Corfu, along with eight crew members, but when the airplane reached about 36,000 toes, passengers reportedly seen flames coming from the correct facet of the airplane. Typically, you do not need to see something burning while you are trapped in a steel tube, a number of miles in the sky, so it is utterly comprehensible that the passengers have been terrified. The good news is, they did make it, but it would not change the fact that they have been justifiably anxious that could be the end for them.

“It was an incredibly horrible experience. I already sent goodbye texts because I thought, ‘It’s over now,'” one passenger told Germany’s Bild.

Those Blankets And Vouchers, Though

When contacted for a remark, a Condor Airlines spokesperson told the Post the engine fire was precipitated by “a chemical reaction that happened inside the combustion chamber.” They also added, “The reason was a parameter indication outside the normal range caused by a disturbance in the air flow supply to the engine.” It is not solely clear what that means, precisely, but that’s the reason they are going with for now. Hopefully, we’ll get more data once they conclude their investigation.

As for the resort room issue, the airline also told the Post, “Unfortunately, there was insufficient hotel capacity in Brindisi, meaning that not all guests could be accommodated in hotels.” That said, “Additional vouchers and blankets were organized at the airport, and a few shops were allowed to remain open to provide supplies. Passengers who took advantage of alternative accommodation options can submit their expenses for reimbursement.”

That actually sounds better than dying strapped into a burning airplane, but it is still a tough deal for the passengers who weren’t fortunate enough to obtain resort rooms. Hopefully, they also obtain some compensation for being unexpectedly pressured to face their own mortality. Money cannot erase the fear they skilled, but it does make you’re feeling better about the unhealthy issues that occur.
