Shonda Rhimes, the artistic genius behind Netflix’s smash hit period drama Bridgerton, has shared thrilling news about the fourth season with followers.
During her look at the Edinburgh Film Festival today (August 20), coated by Reach Screen Time, she unveiled key particulars about her much-loved Regency-era show, stories Manchester Evening News.
The Netflix collection, which attracted over 100 million viewers in its first season alone, chronicles the romantic adventures of the Bridgerton household. In an on-stage dialog with British journalist Mishal Husain, Rhimes mentioned what’s next for Bridgerton.
Husain requested, “How many seasons do you think it will run for?” to which Rhimes responded, “Exactly eight.”
When Husain probed the famend Shondaland creator about whether or not she would “would let her imagination run wild beyond that”, Rhimes revealed, “The Bridgerton series is eight children. Violet Bridgerton and all eight of her children married. So every season is a child.”
But the thrill did not stop there, as Rhimes also hinted at “a possibility for spin-offs,” given that Bridgerton creator Julia Quinn has written extra books that diverge from the main plot.
This comes after Netflix’s profitable prequel collection, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which delves into the early lives of Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury, according to the Express.
Meanwhile, followers are eagerly anticipating Bridgerton’s return for season 4, which can focus on Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, who is finally prepared to discover true love.
Sophie Baek has been forged as his romantic curiosity, Yerin Ha, the mysterious Lady in Silver, at a masquerade ball.
Netflix has already launched a teaser displaying varied pictures of Ton society members studying the latest Lady Whistledown scandal sheet, with the tagline, “Next season’s most captivating match will be revealed. Welcome to the marriage mart, Benedict.”

“The scripts that Jess [Brownell] and her team have come up with are dynamite. They’re really, really, really exciting,” he said.
“The storyline is a bit of a twist on ‘Cinderella.’ You remember being told those stories as a child – the magic and the romance of them. It’s really exciting to have that weaved into the world that we know of Bridgerton… It’s such a great story, but it’s also, I hope, really relatable.”
The initial three seasons of Bridgerton targeted on the lives of siblings Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), and Colin (Luke Newton) respectively, with Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) rising love story also highlighted in the third season.
While Benedict’s story is slated to be next and Francesca’s story is still unfolding, followers are eagerly awaiting future collection that highlight Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and the youthful siblings Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) and Gregory (Will Tilston).
