Brooks Koepka hit breaking point weeks into PGA | Golf News

Brooks Koepka’s comeback to the PGA Tour for the 2026 season has been a important speaking point, particularly as he gears up for the Masters in April, and it appears he already reached his restrict in one side.

After practically 4 years with LIV Golf, Koepka returned to the American circuit under the new Returning Member Program. He’s now making his fourth look at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, aiming for the first-place prize of $1.7 million.

In February, Koepka seemingly had enough of his placing and switched to the TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter after the Waste Management Phoenix Open, where he is had two earlier victories but did not make the cut this 12 months.

“It started right after Waste Management,” Koepka explained. “I think that was kind of the breaking point of the frustration of, it’s been two-plus years of poor putting and poor mechanics.

“Just reset all that. Obviously the putter modified, and then a lot of mechanical work. Spent fairly a bit of time with Mike just grinding on it and actually fantastic tuning all the pieces. The strokes gained for the iron play, the iron play’s been great.”

“The driver wasn’t great, but I believe that driver’s head was a little smashed. We checked it out on TrackMan yesterday and it was a bit spiny, so I do not know if it had a little crack in it or one thing was going fallacious with it. We’ve received that sorted now. That price me simply six, seven photographs last week. But I like the best way I’m taking part in. Just need to put myself in competition right here for the first time before Augusta.”

During his first Tour appearance since 2022 at the Farmers Insurance Open, Koepka made clear his putting performance was unacceptable. The 35-year-old finished dead last in Strokes Gained: Putting at Torrey Pines.

Koepka has posted three top-20 finishes across his last three outings, including a top-10 result at the Cognizant Classic on his home course.

“I really feel like I’ve been taking part in rather well,” Koepka said.

“Scoring just hasn’t fairly been there, but ball-striking is rather well, placing’s beginning to come around, feeling rather well with that. I like the best way the sport’s trending. Sometimes it isn’t always about the finishes, it is about how I really feel, and I really feel excellent, very assured going into Augusta in a few weeks.”

Following his conclusion in San Diego and his first start at T-56, Koepka posed a vulnerable question and noted he’ll eventually solve the issue.

“It cannot worsen, proper?” questioned Koepka. “The sport feels good. Like I believe placing might be last in the sector, but never actually putted nicely right here. I do not know the reply to it proper now. I’ll in all probability attempt to determine that out when I’m executed with you guys.”
