Brooks Koepkas LIV Golf future remains unclear – | Golf News

As LIV Golf approaches its fifth season, the clock is operating down on contract renewals, leaving Brooks Koepka in a state of uncertainty.

Koepka was among the initial signatories when LIV Golf launched in 2022, but his deal expires after the 2026 season. According to Sports Business Journal, Koepka remains undecided about persevering with with the Saudi-funded tour in future years.

This uncertainty follows current criticism where he was labeled “unrecognizable” alongside another LIV performer after their respective transitions.

Should Koepka depart from LIV, he would retain eligibility for all major championships and the DP World Tour. Scott O’Neil, who turned LIV Golf’s CEO in January 2025, expressed optimism about Koepka’s continued involvement while acknowledging the current uncertainty surrounding his standing.

“I know you’re not going to want to hear this one, just the individual players, and this goes back to our policy, we’re just going to run it through. So, we haven’t made any announcements on players, but he is signed for 2026.”

Koepka joined LIV in 2022 alongside Cameron Smith during the Saudi-backed circuit’s inaugural part, though both gamers have struggled since making the change.

Koepka has failed to make quite a few cuts, including three of the 4 majors in 2025, plus the Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship. Smith, meanwhile, missed every major championship cut this 12 months for the first time in his skilled profession.

Koepka hasn’t managed a top-10 end in a major match since his victory at the PGA Championship in 2023. Some Tour professionals also consider that their transfer to LIV has negatively impacted their careers.

A fan posed a query to Tour skilled Mark Allen and former World No. 16 Nick O’Hern about Koepka’s profession trajectory, which appeared to decline after his signing with LIV.

On the Talk Birdie to Me podcast, a viewer requested: “I’m curious what’s going on with the five-time major winner? It seems bizarre that in 2023, he won the PGA Championship and came T2 at The Masters, but two years later his game is unrecognizable?”

O’Hern responded: “From what I’ve known from the year, it hasn’t been great,” He added, “He’s an interesting cat, Brooks, because when he first went to LIV… You thought this suits him and his schedule because it’s limited golf for him.”

Allen chimed in: “I always feel like the guys that went to LIV… the majority of them… weren’t die hard professional golfers,” He continued, “From the outside looking in, it just looks like LIV stuffed their game.”

O’Hern then mentioned Smith’s struggles, saying: “No one drove it worse than him at the majors last year… he missed every cut in the majors last year. I’m sure it’s annoying the hell out of him too.”

Allen concluded: “LIV… it’s just not for everybody as far as we watch. Maybe it’s just not for everybody as far as you play.”
