Bruce Willis’ spouse has gone to great lengths to help him in his dementia battle.
Emma Heming Willis did a sit-down interview with Diane Sawyer that aired Tuesday night time and revealed her well-known husband, 70, is living in a “second home” close by so he can get 24-hour care.
“It was one of the hardest decisions that I’ve had to make so far,” Emma, 47, said in the ABC particular. “But I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters.”

“You know, he would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs,” Emma added.
Emma famous that her and Willis’ daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, see their dad “a lot” at the home, including for breakfast and dinner visits.

Willis — who also shares daughters Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with ex-wife Demi Moore — was recognized with frontotemporal dementia in 2023.
The neurological disorder mainly impacts the areas of the mind that are related with character, habits and language, according to the Mayo Clinic.
During the particular, Emma revealed that the “Die Hard” actor’s mind “is failing him.”

“The language is going,” Emma shared. “We’ve learned to adapt and we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a different way.”
However, the creator clarified that her husband “is still very mobile” and “is in really great health overall.”
Emma also recalled how Willis exhibited delicate indicators of one thing being off before he obtained his official diagnosis.

“For someone who was very talkative and very engaged, he was just a little more quiet,” she said. “When the family would get together, he would just melt a little bit.”
“It felt a little removed, very cold, not like Bruce, who was very warm and affectionate,” Emma continued. “To go the complete opposite of that was alarming and scary.”

Willis’ health points even took a toll on his relationship with Emma, whom he’s been married to since 2009.
“I didn’t understand what was happening,” Emma told Sawyer, 79. “I just thought: Can I remain in a marriage that doesn’t feel like what we had? That doesn’t feel like a marriage anymore?”
Emma said that she had “conversations” with Willis about their issues, but “he would always just dismiss it” until they realized why he was appearing so different.

The mother of two did the interview to promote her new guide, “The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path.”
