Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot no longer…

It sadly obtained slayed.

Hulu is no longer shifting ahead with the “Buffy the Vampire” reboot, the star of the authentic collection, Sarah Michelle Gellar announced on Instagram Saturday.

The collection, dubbed “Buffy: New Sunnydale,” was first announced in February 2025, over 20 years after the supernatural horror drama ended in 2003 — and truly began filming in Los Angeles in August.

“So, I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me,” Gellar said in an Instagram video to her 4.9 million followers.

“Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with ‘Buffy: New Sunnydale.’”

The actress, 48, then went on to thank Academy Award-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao, who was directing the new collection.

“I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy’s stylish yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chloé, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you. And this doesn’t change any of that,” she continued.

The now-canceled show was centered around a new slayer — with Gellar in a recurring function and serving as an govt producer.
