Diaz made 38 films in 20 years. She is understood for roles in “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “There’s Something About Mary,” “My Sister’s Keeper,” “Shrek,” “The Other Woman” and plenty of different movies.

“I didn’t think I was going to make another movie,” she admitted. “I used to be completely completely satisfied, you already know, simply residing my life doing different issues. You know, like day in and time out, not films. And then I get a telephone call from Jamie Foxx. And how do you say no to Jamie Foxx when he says, ‘Hey, I’ve bought this massive motion comedy that we will simply have a lot enjoyable on.’
“If there’s anyone I’m going to go back and spend months on end, on set, having a ball, laughing with, it would be Jamie.”
Diaz revealed nothing might have modified her thoughts about her determination to depart Hollywood in an October interview. She stopped appearing in 2014 to give attention to building a life with husband Benji Madden.

“We were in the house for a long time, which was amazing,” Diaz stated at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, describing her time away from the industry.
“So, I had to push myself. My husband, he’s just the best. He was just like, ‘You’ve been supporting us and building the family.’ And supporting him in his businesses. He’s like, ‘It’s time for us to support you and let mommy ascend and do her thing.’”
