Charlie Dimmock fumes ‘never again!’ after ‘boring’ TV | UK News


TV gardener Charlie Dimmock says she is going to “never again” do one factor when it comes to her job, after a “boring” expertise. Back in 2000, she agreed to take part in Channel 4 actuality collection The Games, but admitted filming it was “so boring”. Opening up to Female First in 2008, she admitted: “It wasn’t a bad experience. I enjoyed all the sports and training.

“But living in the house was so boring. The first series they didn’t do that, they just kept them as though [they were] athletes and living in a village, but they didn’t make it as bad. You weren’t allowed to read newspapers, you weren’t allowed to do any work or write articles. You weren’t allowed to do anything.”

The idea of the programme noticed celebrities compete against each other in Olympic-style occasions including weight lifting, gymnastics and diving, being awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. She starred alongside Shane Lynch, Katy Hill and Pat Sharp.

Charlie said the only option out there was to chat to the other contestants, and they rapidly ran out of issues to discuss about because nothing was taking place.

“It just got so boring!” she confessed.

Things went from unhealthy to worse when the programme ended, with Charlie admitting the press coverage afterwards left her surprised.

“I saw the press coverage and the production company and the stories they made up. It was 1% truth and 99% escalations. Never again!”

The show employed stand-in extras before each competitors was filmed utilizing the real celebrities, with Katie Dunlop revealing on X a number of years later: “Fun fact, in the original version of #TheGames circa early 2000 I was a tester/stand-in for the hammer throw so they could practice all the camera angles etc. Also got to stay in ‘the house’ overnight & got filmed 24/7, I was fake Charlie Dimmock. It was bonkers & great fun!”
