The sufferer of a deadly single-engine plane crash close to Maplewood Park in Rochester has been recognized as Thomas Stewart, 0, of Churchville, according to the Rochester Police Department.
The plane crashed onto Bridge View Drive around 1:30 p.m., Aug. 1. Stewart was pronounced useless at the scene. A second occupant was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening accidents.

The trigger of the crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, but a spokesperson said preliminary data suggests the plane’s engine failed, inflicting it to crash into trees close to the roadway. The plane was eliminated for additional examination.
The plane, a Piper J5C Cub Cruiser, was registered in Stewart’s identify, according to the Federal Aviation Administration’s web site. Police, however, said Stewart was a passenger on the plane when it crashed.

An obituary for Stewart described him as an achieved pilot with a “great love of airplanes.” Stewart was a Rochester-area native who served in the U.S. Air Force. He owned a number of airplanes, had his own personal airfield at his farm and was a member of the pilot’s group, the Quiet Birdmen.
The 0-year-old also had a ardour for traditional vehicles and was well-known for his vintage vehicle restoration business, Flathead Sales & Service.
“Tom was driven by a deep passion for all things mechanical,” his obituary said. “He could fix anything with a motor.”
Stewart is survived by two siblings and prolonged household and buddies. Loved ones are planning a celebration of life at his airfield later this fall.
On Facebook, Jack Stewart said his brother died “doing what he loved.”
“I can only say he was always my quiet hero. I love him so much. Rest in peace, Tom,” he wrote.
