The family of the suspected White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter reportedly alerted police to his alarming habits before the incident on Saturday evening.

Another family member, who was interviewed by investigators after the incident, said that Allen had made radical statements and repeatedly referenced a plan to do “something” to repair the problems with the world.

Allen would usually go to the taking pictures vary to practice with his firearms, according to his family. An official told CBC News that Allen was half of a group called “The Wide Awakes” and attended a “No Kings” protest in California.

When requested about being the attainable goal of another assassination attempt, President Donald Trump told Fox News, “It is what it is, you know? We had a great group of people there last night.”

The president praised the Secret Service and other law enforcement officers for being “outstanding” amid the chaos. “This is a group that is not being paid. If you think about it, the Democrats are holding up their pay, and I think maybe they’ll loosen up a little bit now.”

Trump was referring to the partial authorities shutdown, which started on February 14 and is now the longest in American historical past. However, not like TSA brokers, the Secret Service are being paid amid the shutdown.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and other law enforcement officers imagine that Trump was Allen’s supposed goal. The suspected shooter traveled from California to Chicago and then to Washington, D.C. by practice before checking in as a visitor at the Washington Hilton resort, where the dinner was happening.

“It does appear that he did in fact set out to target folks who work in the administration, likely including the president,” Blance told NBC News.

It was initially reported that the shooter was killed, but it was later revealed that he was taken into custody without injury. “He failed,” Blanche told CBS. “Law enforcement did their jobs.”
