Former Coronation Street legend, Anne Reid, has opened up on her secret to ageing nicely as she shared some ideas about her mortality. In an interview with Alan Titchmarsh on his ITV show Love Your Weekend, the 89-year-old actress shared that she wouldn’t want to die in a hospital mattress.
“I think you’ve just got to keep going, you know,” she informed the gardener whereas talking about ageing. “A doctor said to me recently, ‘What’s your secret?’ And I said well I try and avoid stress. You can’t avoid big stress, obviously, but small things in life. My mother used to say ‘oh the washing up will still be here when we get back’, and things like that and that’s my attitude. I try not to worry about small things and keep stress out of my life.
“And go for all times. I are likely to say yes to every little thing as a substitute of no. I believe a lot of people say no to issues, do not they? They assume ‘oh no, I am unable to try this’.”
She added how she feels about her own mortality, saying: “I stated to my son the opposite day that I’d fairly die falling off a mountain in China or snowboarding of a bridge in Switzerland fairly than in a hospital mattress. So that is my philosophy.” Alan didn’t seem to know what to say as he chuckled in response at her stark admission.
