Corriedale fans lose it following iconic moment in | UK News
After months of hype, Corriedale finally landed on screens on Monday, January 5, and while there have been loads of twists and turns, and even a few deaths and a comeback, it was seeing two icons together that drove fans into a frenzy. The pairing of Coronation Street‘s Ken Barlow (performed by William Roche) and Emmerdale‘s Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) had viewers pleading with ITV for a spin-off with the pair.
Taking to X they gushed about their assembly. “Eric and Ken meeting are like Dumbledore and Gandalf meeting,” one enthused. “Ken Barlow and Eric Pollard spin-off please! @ITV @emmerdale @itvcorrie,” another begged. “The concept of Ken getting bored in Manchester and going ‘I’m off to visit my friend Eric Pollard in Emmerdale for the weekend’. Likeeeeeee this is history in the making,” a third chimed in. “Ken Barlow meeting Eric Pollard is the equivalent of David Brent meeting Michael Scott in #theoffice,” a fourth opined.
A fifth shared: “I can’t explain it, but Pollard and Ken together are making me emotional.”
Meanwhile, a sixth requested: “Anyone else in happy tears at this Ken and Eric scene. The legends!”
The one-off particular noticed the residents of Weatherfield come face-to-face with their Yorkshire neighbours in an action-packed hour of drama to mark the start of ITV’s cleaning soap “power hour”, which is able to see each show screening 30-minute episodes back to back every weekday.
A complete of solid members from both soaps participated in the episode, with Ken and Eric’s interplay occurring close to the end of the hour-long particular.
The pair, who are the longest serving solid members in their respective soaps, met at a merchandising machine in Emmerdale’s Hotten General.
This got here after the injured events had been rushed there following a horror smash invovling a number of autos, which left residents of both soaps significantly injured.
As Ken struggled with the machine Eric was on hand to help. During their transient interplay Ken explained his daughter Tracy (Kate Ford) had been in one of the autos.
Their bonding moment ended when Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) managed to help Ken get his candy deal with from the machine.
