Country music star announces divorce after 15 years – | Music News


Canadian nation music star Brett Kissel and his spouse, Cecilia, have announced they’re divorcing after almost 15 years of marriage.

The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram post this week, with a picture of a handwritten letter signed by both.

They said the choice got here after “a great deal of deep soul searching.”

“It is with a clear mind and a loving heart that we have made the decision to end our marriage of almost 15 years,” the assertion read.

“We have come to realize… we are no longer suited to be married to one another.”

The couple said they’ve been separated for a 12 months and a half and are targeted on co-parenting their 4 youngsters: daughters Mila, 9, and Aria, 8, and sons Leo, 6, and Atlas, 3.

“As we move forward in our next chapter in life, we look forward to continuing to co-parent our four amazing children,” they wrote.

“And we will definitely remain great friends.”

In the caption accompanying the letter, they requested for privateness and said they’re all “doing well.”

“Please don’t spend your time worrying about us and our children,” the post said. “However, we would greatly appreciate your continued kindness… and ask that you respect the privacy of our family.”

Kissel, a native of Alberta, is a multi-time Canadian Country Music Association Award winner with a profession spanning more than a decade.

Earlier this 12 months, Kissel made headlines for a minor dispute with a Canadian theater venue.

In March, he said he was fined $100 by the Kingston Grand Theatre after performing a music during a non-public meet-and-greet before a scheduled live performance.

The singer said fan and former political candidate Drew Cumpson had requested I Didn’t Fall in Love With Your Hair, which Kissel carried out on stage for a group of about a dozen people.

He said he was later fined for stepping on the stage during unauthorized hours.

“Apparently, I’m not supposed to be on the stage,” Kissel wrote in a Facebook post. “They fined me $100… because all I wanted to do was play a song for one of my fans.”
