Country star reveals health battles that nearly ended | Music News

Country music star Tim McGraw just lately revealed that he got here close to stepping away from his decades-long profession after enduring a number of major surgical procedures and health challenges over the past two years.

The 58-year-old singer shared the revelation during his Saturday efficiency at the Yaamava’ Theater in Highland, California, where he spoke to followers about the toll his bodily struggles had taken on him.

“I’ve had four back surgeries and double knee replacements, just in the last couple of years,” McGraw told the viewers, according to Parade.

The Louisiana native explained that the sequence of procedures not only restricted his bodily health, but also affected his mental health.

“After going through all of that for a couple of years and getting depressed over it and all of those things — stuff not working right…And this spring, before I had my final back surgery, things were getting really bad,” he admitted. “So I was seriously contemplating and figuring out how to walk away.”

“My wife has gone through quite a few surgeries. She’s had five neck surgeries and she’s had a couple of hand surgeries,” he told the gang.

McGraw took a second to thank the docs and medical employees who helped both him and Hill through their recoveries, including a number of who had been reportedly in attendance.

The health struggles in the end impressed new music from McGraw, who said the expertise gave him a deeper perspective on getting old and resilience. He said his tune King Rodeo was written during this time as a reflection of what he had been going through.

“During that process, I had this idea for this song that sort of dealt with facing age and facing all that stuff that comes along with it,” McGraw explained.
