Countryfile star Adam Henson has been flooded with help after making an thrilling announcement. The 60-year-old farmer started presenting the hit BBC programme in 2001. 

He has since labored on programmes such as Countryfile Summer Diaries and Inside Out. Due to his intensive farming data, Adam has also labored on BBC Radio 4’s On Your Farm and Farming Today, as properly as co-hosting Lambing Live with Kate Humble.

Away from his Countryfile duties, Adam runs his own agricultural business from his Gloucestershire base at Bemborough Farm. The property also operates as the Cotswolds Farm Park, which attracts hundreds of guests every 12 months.

The beloved star took to Instagram on Sunday (February 1) to share an thrilling update after he welcomed 14 new piglets to his farm. In the Reel, Adam shared: “It’s about eleven o’clock in the evening and before I go to bed, I always let the dogs out and then settle down myself.

“But if there’s any animals that need checking, of course I’m going and do that around about the same time. And I knew that one of our sows was close to giving delivery, one of our Landrace pigs. I do know that because if you possibly can draw milk from them and they have a big udder, they’re just about within the next twelve hours, they are going to give delivery – they are going to farrow.”

Adam then walked into a pen, before panning the camera around to reveal his new piglets. He said: “So, we knew the sow was getting close. She’s in what we call our freedom farrowing pen. There’s these bars, it seems to be a bit industrial, but what it means is that the piglets will draw to the lamp, and then she will lie down and they’ll go and feed.

“What happens sometimes, because the sows are so big and the piglets are so little, they occasionally get squashed by the sow. But when you’ve got a set up like this, it makes them a lot safer. You can see they’re all snuggled up, and there’s a few feeding there.”

Sharing an update on the sow’s condition, Adam continued: “She’s got 14 piglets and she’s cleansed, which means she’s passed the afterbirth. So, I’m happy with that. It’s a job well done and now I can go to bed in confidence that they’re all fit and well. Farmers all across the country will be caring for their animals like this 24/7. If they need our help, we’re always around.”

Fans shortly took to the feedback part to share their properly needs, with one individual writing: “Good morning Adam, Thank you for showing us lovely, sweet piglets.”

Another added: “I found myself instantly smiling at this. Thank you,” while a third said: “Gorgeous! She will be a busy mummy.”

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “That’s so cute and you can see they are being well looked after,” with another equally sharing: “What a beautiful sight. Thank you to all of the farmers who keep food on the table. You are and your teams are loved and appreciated.”

This comes after Adam expressed his worries following the delivery of two new foals on his farm. During the latest episode of Countryfile, the farmer explained the significance of the foals getting microchipped and having a DNA pattern taken.

He said: “Not only is it important for the rule of the land to have these ponies microchipped and their passports put together, but also for the Exmoor Pony Society and particularly for the breed itself… The Exmoor Pony is still very rare… So, we’re really just doing our bit for rare breeds conservation and keeping this gorgeous breed going.”
