A cruise passenger died and another was injured after falling from a trail in Alaska.

Alaska State Troopers have been alerted around 8 p.m. on Sept. 16 to a search and rescue operation after the boys had fallen from Mount Roberts Trail, a common hiking trail in Juneau, according to a news release. Authorities said they then “slid down the steep mountainside.”

Britian Pool, a 36-year-old from Texas, slid farther down and died from his accidents. “Pool’s remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office and his next of kin was notified,” the release said.

Juneau Mountain Rescue extracted the other man, who was not named, with “minor injuries.” Authorities didn’t specify which cruise ship the boys have been crusing on.
