Dad finds mold in popular water bottle…
That’s one surprising discovery.
Something most people in all probability don’t do enough of is clean their reusable water bottles. While scrubbing them with sizzling water and cleaning soap is useful, there may still be sneaky mold hiding in locations the bare eye wouldn’t catch.
Although some water bottles aren’t designed to be taken aside to clean, one frightened dad is warning mother and father to diligently study the bottles their youngsters often drink out of after he found a gross quantity of mold in some of his Yeti bottles.
In a TikTok video, Jason Sullivon explained how he rotates the bottles his daughter makes use of each day, but observed that they weren’t getting as clean as they need to be. “I contacted Yeti to ask how to clean them properly, since they are not designed to be taken apart,” he explained in his video.
Sullivan said that Yeti suggested boiling the bottles in sizzling water for 5-10 minutes. “After doing that, this is what they looked like when they came out,” he said while displaying the digicam seen mold beneath the rubber seal where the straw inserts.
“If you’re using these types of bottles, especially for children, make sure to check them regularly. There could be hidden buildup or contamination you might not notice,” he warned.
Many people chimed in beneath the video in the remark part, either agreeing with Sullivan or sharing their gripes with these costly water bottles.

This isn’t the first time people have taken to social media to warn others about horrifying mold discovered in their insulated bottles.
Kayla Houlihan, 32, was shocked to discover mold in the straw of her bottle, of all locations. The Tribe Skincare founder said in a TikTok video that has hundreds of thousands of views that she was sick on and off for three years.
When her sister steered she clean the straw of her bottle, the 32-year-old was “absolutely shocked” by what she discovered.
“I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,” she said in her video.
“I know this is 100% my fault,” she said in a follow-up video. “It’s common knowledge that you clean your drink bottle straw, but I guess I missed the memo.”
