Dana White optimistic Conor McGregor will return | MMA News

Conor McGregor‘s long-awaited octagon return could possibly be just around the nook.

The former two-division UFC champion last fought at UFC 264 in July 2021, shedding to Dustin Poirier after struggling a damaged leg in the ultimate seconds of the opening spherical. He’s teased an octagon return for years but it has yet to got here to fruition.

The 37 year-old was scheduled to make the stroll at UFC 303 in July 2024 against Michael Chandler but pulled out of the event citing a toe injury. This July might see the Irishman back inside the cage.

“Possibly,” White said when requested if McGregor was preventing in July during the UFC Seattle Post-Fight Press Conference. “Nothing is done. Nothing’s even remotely close to being done.”

While negotiations is probably not close to being finalized, White is ‘optimistic’ McGregor will be back inside the octagon sooner slightly than later.

“I was pretty optimistic at the end of last year. So, end of last year going into this year, I’m still confident,” said White.

It’s unclear what weight class McGregor will compete in if or when he fights again. The UFC 303 matchup against Chandler was scheduled to happen in the welterweight division. McGregor has fought 3 times in the 170-pound weight class during his UFC profession, twice against Nate Diaz and once against Donald Cerrone.
