Dancing With the Stars pro-dancer Rylee Arnold thought that her dancing profession would come to an end when she was 15, following her kind 1 diabetes diagnosis at that age.
“Right when I was diagnosed, I didn’t think I was going to dance anymore,” Rylee, who is now 21, told US Weekly on Wednesday, August 5. “I thought I was going to have to stop doing it and fully just devote my life to managing my health.”
Rylee explained to the news outlet that she later realized her dance goals may still be fulfilled, though it was “really hard in the beginning” dealing with the kind 1 diabetes diagnosis as a aggressive teen dancer.
Also, she commented on what she got here to perceive while being handled for the sickness at a younger age.
“There’d be times where, I mean, as a teenager, I would be embarrassed to give myself a shot in front of friends at school or at dance,” Ryle shared. “And there were just little things that I was like, ‘If I don’t prioritize this, I will not live a long and lengthy and beautiful life.'”
She shared that it “was really, really important” to study the act of “just balancing that and learning how to balance” her life post-diagnosis.
Ever since Rylee started as a pro-dancer on Dancing With the Stars in 2023, she felt “really focused on balancing that and having that healthy balance.”
Rylee has developed a degree of understanding over the last six years when it comes to “how to manage” life with kind 1 diabetes.
“Even more so now, I feel like I finally am at a point,” she commented. ‘It’s taken … a while to perceive your physique and how it really works.”
She added, “So it was about six years it took me to actually, actually get adjusted [and] perceive how I react to issues, how my physique reacts to issues, and I finally really feel like I’m, like, prepared to go.”
Rylee revealed to Us Weekly that she used a Dexcom G7 CGM to observe her glucose ranges.
