Davina McCall fights back tears as she issues emotional | UK News

Davina McCall struggled to maintain back the tears as she issued an update on her cancer treatment. The presenter, 58, announced in November that she had been identified with breast cancer and underwent surgical procedure. The former Big Brother host appeared on Stand Up To Cancer where she met sufferers at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge. “It feels super important to be part of the show, especially now,” she said. “I found out back in October that I had breast cancer, and I was caught very early.”

Later, Davina spoke to a lady who had also been identified with breast cancer and was at the hospital to discover out if the disease had unfold. Thankfully, the girl acquired the all-clear from docs, but still needed a course of radiotherapy. She later revealed the great news to Davina, who explained she can be having the same course of treatment.

The mum-of-three said: “You’re having radiotherapy in January? That’s when I’m having mine!”

She then requested the girl when her appointment to talk about radiotherapy with the doctor was. When the girl confirmed it was next week, Davina revealed that hers can be at the same time.

“When’s your next appointment for radiotherapy? Monday? No! Mine is too,” she said.

After talking to sufferers about their own experiences with cancer, Davina shared an important message, saying: “Don’t be afraid, it is so important to look after your own body. For you, and for the people that love you.

In the same show, Davina opened up about losing her sister, Caroline, who died from lung cancer at the age of 50 in 2012.

She recalled: “I took my sister Caroline to A&E, she’d fainted and she couldn’t get up. They gave her a brain scan but then they scanned her chest and I couldn’t understand why. That’s when she was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer, and she died seven weeks later.”

“I used to be holding her hand,” Davina said as her voice broke. Regaining composure, Davia added: “And that’s why early diagnosis really matters to me.”

Davina announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer around one year after she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour.

She said: “So I had a biopsy. I discovered it was certainly breast cancer. I had it taken out in a lumpectomy practically three weeks in the past.

“I’m so very lucky,” Davina added, admitting she felt “so relieved to have had it removed and to know it hasn’t spread”.
