Bryson DeChambeau has labeled Royal Portrush as “diabolical” in anticipation of next month’s Open Championship.

The last main golf event of the yr is set to happen in Northern Ireland this July, with DeChambeau anticipated to be among the highest contenders.

Despite his standing as a LIV Golf famous person, DeChambeau has yet to secure a main victory in 2025, following Rory McIlroy’s Masters win, Scottie Scheffler’s PGA Championship triumph, and J. J. Spaun’s shocking U.S. Open victory.

“Slightly bit more due diligence on my aspect of the coin. Not taking issues for granted and focusing on what I can do to give myself the best probability to win at the British Open. Probably being a little more strategic that week.”

The last time the Open was held at Portrush was in 2019, when Shane Lowry secured his only major championship to date. That tournament didn’t end well for DeChambeau, as he missed the cut. He also failed to make the cut at last year’s Open at Royal Troon in Scotland.

DeChambeau, with his characteristic frankness, confirmed his earlier experience at Portrush, “I performed it final time around when Shane received,” and didn’t hold back on describing the course’s nature: “Yeah, it may be diabolical.

“Driver is key on that golf course in wind conditions, in side wind conditions. It’s going to be a good test of controlling your golf ball, so I’ve got to be in touch with my game. I’ve got to have better feel.”

DeChambeau has been actively selling the upcoming LIV occasion in Dallas, a determination born out of personal significance. “For me, it’s my hometown (tournament) in a sense,” he conveyed, being from Grapevine but contemplating Dallas as his native territory.

“That’s quite honestly why I think I was given the responsibility — even though I didn’t have to, a responsibility to promote the event is because I want to showcase this great golf course and what LIV product is all about, the team competition about it, how diabolical it can be and how difficult it can be to win not only an individual title out here but a Team Championship title out here.”
