A Democratic lawmaker who threw his hat into the ring in a bid to change into California’s next governor broke his silence after an erotic poem he wrote when he was 19 resurfaced and went viral.

Now, Rep. Eric Swalwell is making gentle of the poetry he printed as a faculty scholar while clapping back at the attempt to injury his marketing campaign by right-wing movie director and activist Joel Gilbert, who offered the Daily Mail with the poem.

The two-stanza poem is racy but not express, describing “kissing till veins imploded and exploded” as “blood rolled down our chins.” It describes a hookup with a girl.

Titled “Hungover from Burgundy,” the prose was printed in the literary magazine The Lyricist and was written for a inventive writing class Swalwell took at North Carolina’s Campbell University.

In a quote retweet to a story about the poem by the New York Post, Swalwell made gentle of the printed work as he joked, “You think my poetry at 19 was bad? Wait til you see my 12-yr old diary.”

The full poem was republished by retailers that picked it up, and it reads as follows:

Formless and magnificent—

A flurry of limbs and nails.

Atop my resort she stopped,

And I lept for fabric and tan,

My anxious arm she bit—my scar is gorgeous.

She bent her lips to mine.

Kissing until veins imploded and exploded,

Till blood rolled down our chins,

For bounded mouths can not communicate of parting.

I awoke beside magnificence’s shadow—

Her type sloppy and her legs pale.

And we groaned concurrently.

Gilbert, who leaked the poem to the Mail, is a conspiracy theorist whose works embody Paul McCartney Really Is Dead: The Last Testament of George Harrison, Elvis Found Alive and Dreams from My Real Father.

The last of those is about former President Barack Obama and dives into the conspiracy idea that Barack Obama Sr. is not really his father and that his mom posed for nude pictures. It’s baseless, as are the theories offered in the other two works.

The 61-year-old is determined to stir up disgust about the 45-year-old lawmaker’s gubernatorial bid, and he is hoping the erotic poem written by Swalwell when he was just 19 will do the trick.

“It’s disturbing how he eroticizes violence,” Gilbert told the Daily Mail. “You have to wonder what Swalwell’s woke allies in the #MeToo movement would make of his flippant alignment of drunkenness, abuse and casual sex.”

Gilbert filed a lawsuit last month difficult Swalwell’s eligibility for workplace after the Democrat announced his bid for governor. He claimed Swalwell is not certified because he would not live in the Golden State.

But Swalwell pledged to contest that in court, stating bluntly in a Facebook post that he lives in both California and Washington, D.C., “like all congressmen.”

“Like all congressmen from CA, I live in CA and DC,” Swalwell wrote. “This MAGA idiot also tried to smear the Obamas, Al Gore, and Elvis! They ignored him. But I’ll beat him in court.”
