Democrats Learn What Consequences Are, and They

One of the more underappreciated elements of the 2024 election is just how assured most Democrats have been that they’d win it. 

It looks like an eternity in the past, but there was a time when the American left was all but sure Kamala Harris could be the next president. Who can keep in mind the months-long proclamation of “joy” being a central theme of her marketing campaign? Or “Brat summer,” suggesting Harris had made inroads with popular culture that merely could not be defeated. I still keep in mind having to repeatedly debunk stories on election day of huge turnout in Philadelphia that had supposedly sealed the deal for the then-vice president. 

That angle was nothing new, though. Between 2021 and 2024, no motion was taken by the Democratic Party that factored in the likelihood that Donald Trump is perhaps president again someday. Assuming that he’d absolutely be achieved this time, they did not even take into account the attainable different outcomes of their campaign. 

But then he gained, and like a little one who angrily wonders how the new range burned him, the Democrats are now very sad that Trump is governing in gentle of their actions.

In case there was any doubt that President Donald Trump and his administration are on a legal retribution tour, this ought to just about settle it.    

Trump has often been under investigation during his political profession — a fact owing to his near-constant efforts to push boundaries. But maybe the 4 greatest examples? The Russia investigation; his Ukraine impeachment; January 6, 2021; and his personal legal troubles after leaving workplace (including those stemming from January 6).    

Less than seven months into Trump’s second time period, key people from every one of these efforts have now apparently confronted investigations of their own.    

More than 10 people who performed key roles in these investigations or ran afoul of Trump have confronted some type of vital legal scrutiny. These are steps that transcend Trump merely accusing them of misdeeds or suggesting they need to be probed.    

Trump and top administration officers have also focused foes with firings and stripped them of security clearances, but the hassle to apply legal scrutiny to some of the most distinguished adversaries seems to be ratcheting up.    

I’m going to go forward and skip the sugar-coating that some attempt to do relating to this subject. Is Donald Trump searching for retribution for how the Democratic Party weaponized the American judicial system to attempt to throw him in prison for the remaining of his life? Yes. Yes, he’s.

You see, in life, when you do issues, those issues often produce particular repercussions. We call those “consequences,” and you aren’t getting to call a timeout from them the second they arrive. Democrats appear to be under the impression that they’ll set new requirements only to revert when those new requirements devour them. 

Take the current battle over redistricting, which has seen over 50 left-wing Texas legislators flee their state to stop the passing of a new congressional map that would eradicate 5 Democrat-held seats. For a long time, the Democratic Party has used state energy to draw some of the most gerrymandered maps in the nation. Some examples embrace Illinois, Maryland, California, New York, Massachusetts, and New Mexico. But when Texas Republicans determined they wished to stop enjoying the sport with their palms tied behind their back, Democrats screamed bloody homicide.

The same is occurring relating to Trump’s quest to maintain people accountable for the political weaponization of the federal government. When Joe Biden used a particular counsel to attempt to jail the current president on extraordinarily specious legal grounds, that was spun as “no one is above the law.” 

When Trump responds to that breaking of norms by investigating those who perpetrated it, all of the sudden it is a “threat to democracy.” When Department of Justice officers and FBI brokers used their energy to hatch a conspiracy to attempt to take down the Democrats’ main political rival, they have been just “doing their job.” When Trump fires those leaders and brokers as a outcome of their own choices to politicize their places of work, that’s claimed to be “politicization.” 

But actually, what did Democrats suppose was going to occur? At what level in Trump’s political profession has he shown a penchant for letting issues go? 

What the press refuses to settle for is that “retribution” is no longer a soiled phrase. People aren’t blind. They noticed what transpired over the last decade, and every little thing Trump is doing is being filtered through that lens. There was a time when taking a hatchet to the FBI or prosecuting your political opponents was certainly taboo. That time ended the second Democrats tore the Overton window to shreds. They selected to put these new guidelines into impact, and we aren’t going back to the outdated guidelines until some accountability is had. 

As the saying goes, if you are taking a shot at the king, you’d best not miss. Democrats missed.
