Dolly Parton postpones Las Vegas shows by nine months | Music News

Legendary singer Dolly Parton has announced that she is suspending her upcoming Las Vegas live shows by nine months due to “health challenges.”

The 79-year-old nation music icon announced the news in a message posted Sunday on Instagram.

The singer, who lost her husband, Carl Dean, this past March, wrote, “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts.”

She added, “As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.

“As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the same old journey to see my plastic surgeon!”

Parton continued, “In all seriousness, given this, I’m not going to give you the option to rehearse and put together the show that I would like you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.

“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say.

“And don’t fear about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said something about stopping yet. But, I imagine He is telling me to slow down proper now so I might be prepared for more big adventures with all of you. I really like you and thanks for understanding.”

In her post, Parton also shared the new dates of her shows, which will run Sept. 17-26 next year. Tickets will be valid for the new dates, while refunds will also be available. Ticket holders will be emailed further instructions.

In June, Parton announced that she was planning a limited-run residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace called Dolly: Live in Las Vegas.

The run was to feature six performances throughout Dec. 4-13 during National Finals Rodeo. Tickets went on sale June 25, and they sold out in less than two hours.

A press release at the time added that Dolly: Live in Las Vegas is “a hit-driven live performance event bringing global famous person Dolly Parton back to Vegas for her first prolonged run in 32 years.

“Weaving together seven decades of classic hits and fan favorites including 9 to 5, Jolene, I Will Always Love You, Coat of Many Colors and many more, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see one of the world’s most beloved entertainers at the peak of her success.”

“To say I’m excited would be an understatement,” Parton said in a assertion at the time. “I haven’t worked Vegas in years, and I’ve always loved singing there.

“I’m trying so ahead to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you’re as nicely. See you there!”

The Las Vegas residency postponement comes after Parton had to cancel a scheduled appearance at her Dollywood theme park in Tennessee just days ago.

Parton was supposed to unveil a new attraction, but she informed fans that she was advised to rest following treatment for a kidney stone.

“I do know, I’m right here and you are there and questioning why that is,” Parton said in a video message posted online by journalist Marcus Leshock. “I had a little drawback. I had a kidney stone.”

Parton revealed that doctors instructed her to take a break after she developed an infection. “Turns on the market was an infection, and the doctor said, ‘You do not need to be touring around this minute, so you need a few days to get better,'” she explained.

“So he steered I not go to Dollywood today,” she added. She reassured fans that her absence would only be temporary. “Don’t fear about me, I’m gonna be okay,” Parton assured. “Just cannot do it today.”

Earlier this yr, Parton misplaced her husband of practically 60 years, Carl Dean, who died at age 82 in March.

Parton is scheduled to obtain the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ sixteenth annual Governors Awards on Nov. 16. She also has a musical, Dolly: An Original Musical, headed to Broadway next yr.
