Dominick Reyes continues to belittle Daniel | MMA News
Former two-time gentle heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes continued his campaign against Daniel Cormier over UFC 333 commentary.
Following his UFC 333 first-round knockout win over Azamat Murzakanov, Reyes launched heavy criticism toward the previous two-division champion calling Cormier a “low IQ hater.” Cormier responded and the 2 went back and forth on social media. On Monday, Reyes went additional on his newly created YouTube show The Commentary Scorecard.
Reyes accused Cormier of not doing his research and pointed to DC’s evaluation of Murzakanov’ fashion and his feedback on Reyes’ degree of competitors.
“You see Murzakanov swap to southpaw instantly,’” Reyes said. “The drawback with this remark is Murzakanov is a southpaw naturally. He’s a natural southpaw. He fights southpaw every time. He never fights orthodox ever.
“So for him to say he’s switching to southpaw is totally mistaken. It just goes to show that he did no research or he’s just speaking, so that’s the first minus for DC.”
“DC says, ‘Everyone wrote this child off. Went a little bit on a shedding streak, was not preventing nicely, now he’s back preventing the best ranked fighters in the world,’” Reyes added. “That remark is wrong because I’ve only fought ranked fighters in my profession since going on that shedding streak, so for him to say now I’m back preventing ranked fighters is another minus on his commentary because he didn’t do his research.”
Reyes’ win on Saturday was his second in a row. He’s gained 5 of his last six fights with 4 of the 5 wins by knockout. Prior to his latest success, Reyes had misplaced 4 consecutive fights from 2020 to 2022.
Reyes went on to criticize Cormier’s feedback about referee Mike Beltran’s stoppage of the struggle accusing the commentator of wanting to “see homicide.”
“At the end of the struggle, I drop Murzakanov. He curls into a ball because he’s very harm and DC makes a remark that says, ‘Mike Beltran may have stopped the struggle at any second but he just needed to see homicide.’ See, that type of remark, that’s a powerful remark, because then you have got conditions like we’ve with Herb Dean where wherever he goes he will get booed, he will get harassed on the road. You’re creating a narrative about how he just needs to see homicide on the market.
“This is a ranked struggle between two ranked fighters, No. 7 vs. No. 8. So this is a high-stakes struggle and Beltran is just giving us an alternative to struggle and not stop the struggle early, so I do commend Beltran for not stopping it early.”
He graded the commentary giving Cormier an ” F-plus” and expects better from the published workforce.
“We go on the market and we struggle with our hearts, all our hearts, and we give it our best every time we exit. I anticipate the same from everyone in the group to go on the market and give their best and get better. It’s not good enough just being in there just speaking. You’ve bought to do your research, you’ve bought to be well-informed, and you’ve bought to be unbiased. Being biased, that’s not cool,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter if you educated a man or labored with a man, whatever. You have to be unbiased when you go on the market, so this is me holding these guys accountable.”
