Donald Trump rips Emmanuel Macrons mysterious | Political News
President Donald Trump ripped his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, after he wore sun shades indoors while addressing leaders at the World Economic Forum.
At a army event in southern France, Macron had a pink eye and even put on a related pair of sun shades. While talking to troops, he downplayed his condition, saying it was “totally benign” and “completely insignificant.”
Please pardon the unpleasant look of my eye,” he said at the time, even calling it the “eye of the tiger,” referring to the song by Survivor used in the 1982 boxing movie Rocky III. “For those who get the reference, it is a signal of willpower,” he said.
According to reports, Macron appeared to have a sub-conjunctival haemorrhage, which is a broken blood vessel in his eye.
The condition is harmless and doesn’t affect vision. It also doesn’t cause permanent eye injury. While sunglasses aren’t necessary for vision, it’s possible Macron wore them to avoid attracting attention.
“Some people would possibly assume he is in poor health, so to keep away from being photographed in that state, he determined to put on sun shades,” Dr. Jimmy Mohamed told French broadcaster RTL. “The glasses shield his image, but probably not his eye.”
During his remarks, which lasted more than an hour, Trump raised the idea of buying Greenland, which has drawn the ire of several European leaders.
The president said he initially planned to leave out of his speech, “but I feel I’d have been reviewed very negatively.” Trump said he has “super respect” for the people of Greenland and Denmark, but stated that Greenland was integral to U.S. national security.
He claimed the U.S. was treated very unfairly by NATO, saying. “We give so a lot, and we get so little in return,” adding that there wouldn’t be a NATO if he didn’t get involved.
“A strong and secure America means a strong NATO,” he said.
