President Donald Trump has criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and said, “No wonder Germany is doing so poorly, both Economically, and otherwise,” after the chief made feedback about Iran humiliating the US amid negotiations.

(*5*)Trump took to Truth Social to write, “The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about! If Iran had a Nuclear Weapon, the whole World would be held hostage. I am doing something with Iran, right now, that other Nations, or Presidents, should have done long ago. No wonder Germany is doing so poorly, both Economically, and otherwise! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Yesterday, the chancellor said Iran’s management was humiliating the US in talks to end the battle by getting the president to dispatch his top aides and then abruptly cancel their journey.

“An entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership, especially by these so-called Revolutionary Guards. And so I hope that this ends as quickly as possible,” Merz said.

Over the weekend, President Trump abruptly canceled a planned trip to Pakistan by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, announcing the decision on Truth Social minutes after Pakistani officials announced that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had left Islamabad.

The cancelled trip would be the second round of negotiations between Iran and the US, with the first talks in Islamabad attended by Vice President JD Vance. The talks ended up being unsuccessful, partly because of Iran’s unwillingness to halt its nuclear programs.

“We need to see an affirmative commitment that [Iran] will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon,” Vance said at the time. “That is the core goal of the president of the United States, and that’s what we’ve tried to achieve through these negotiations.”

President Donald Trump has criticized many countries in NATO including the UK, Germany and France for their refusal to get involved in the war in Iran and open the Strait of Hormuz. The countries, however, have made their position clear and said this is not their war.

“We lack the mandate from the United Nations, the European Union or NATO required under the Basic Law. It was therefore clear from the outset that this battle is just not a matter for NATO,” Merz had said at a news conference in Berlin in March.

“The United States ‌of America and Israel didn’t seek the advice of us prior to this battle either. As for Iran, there has never been a joint choice on the ‘whether or not’ of the matter. That is why the query of how Germany would possibly change into militarily concerned right here doesn’t come up,” he added.
