Donald Trumps last words to Marjorie Taylor | Political News
Donald Trump has lifted the lid on his closing exchange with Marjorie Taylor Greene before her shock resignation on Friday.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, the president spoke with reporters outdoors the White House before departing for Joint Base Andrews.
“I said go your own way,” he told reporters about a dialog before Greene’s resolution.
Greene went from being one of Trump’s largest allies to now being on the outs, as she has publicly shared her disagreements with the president.
The president also said there was the likelihood of reconciliation between the 2, who have championed the Make America Great Again (MAGA) together extensively in the past.
When reporters requested if he would forgive Greene for her resolution to resign, Trump responded, “For what?”
Continuing, he added, “No, I just disagreed with her philosophy. She started backing perhaps the worst Republican Congressman in our history… you know, stupid person.”
“I said go your own way, and once I left her, she resigned because she never would’ve survived a primary, but I think she’s a nice person,” the president said.
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation comes after Trump called her a ‘traitor’
In a video, Greene outlined her reasons for leaving Congress, saying she did “not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the president we all fought for.”
Trump labeled the Georgia congresswoman a “traitor” and “wacky” for her recent stances against him.
“I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better,” she added.
This is a shocking move, as Greene has become known as one of Trump’s major defenders.
Trump could see Marjorie Taylor Greene in politics in the future
Despite Trump and Greene’s public feud over the past few months, in a phone interview with NBC News, the president said, “It’s not going to be easy for her” to continue a profession in politics down the road.
However, he added, “I’d love to see that.”
“She’s acquired to take a little relaxation,” the president told NBC News.
