Ed Balls humiliated in second car crash interview in | UK News
Good Morning Britain descended into chaos when Ed Balls discovered himself in another heated live debate, this time with a Labour MP. On Tuesday (April 28), the 59-year-old broadcaster returned to the helm alongside his co-host Susanna Reid as they mentioned the latest news hitting the headlines. It did not take long for issues to flip political, as the presenting duo welcomed Labour MP Bridget Phillipson onto the show to talk about Keir Starmer’s future in No. 10.
But minutes into the talk, she took a brutal swipe at the presenter and his questionable judgment when questioning politicians on the ITV morning show. She identified: “Ed, you were a senior adviser in government for many years, you were a Secretary of State.”
Viewers soon flocked to X – previously identified as Twitter – to share their ideas on the broadcaster’s place on the breakfast show. One person fumed: “He should have been sacked after yesterday’s performance,” as another agreed: “He should have stood down after yesterday”. A 3rd echoed: “Ed will be going off with stress if this continues.”
It comes hours after the dad-of-three clashed with Green Party chief Zack Polanski, who questioned Ed’s functionality to interview politicians by calling out his former political alignment. He fumed: “Do you know what? I’m enjoying the fact that a Labour politician who’s married to a senior Labour minister is allowed to ask questions to the leader of the Green Party. This is not our manifesto, and what you’re doing is [unacceptable].”
The broadcaster snapped: “Are you accusing me of being a Labour politician?” to which Polanski argued: “Well, it’s not even an accusation. We are planning to replace the Labour party and take the fight to Reform, but what you’re asking me right now has nothing to do with the local elections.”
Ed insisted: “You said I was a Labour politician, did you mean that or not?” which compelled the politician to backpeddle, explaining: “Well, you might have been a Labour minister.” The TV presenter clarified: “Unfortunately, Mr Polanski, I lost my seat in 2015 and I’ve not been a Labour politician for 10 years.
“Whereas you, a Green politician and social gathering chief, appear to be utilizing a moderately elaborate gadget of making accusations against me to keep away from answering the questions.”
