Erika Kirk struggled to preserve her conservative viewers’s engagement throughout her graduation handle.
On May ninth, Fox News broke from its scheduled programming to broadcast live as the CEO of Turning Point USA delivered the graduation speech at Hillsdale College in Michigan. Erika, 37, along with her late husband, Charlie Kirk, had been awarded honorary levels from the Christian liberal arts establishment. The CEO donned the standard black educational robe and mortarboard cap.
Yet, throughout her prolonged remarks, an particular person seated immediately behind her appeared to battle to keep awake. This incident follows the widow’s current criticism of rivals Druski and Candace Owens on her podcast.
Erika beamed as she told graduates, “As you continue forward in life, I want you to embrace the similar blueprint of my husband, where he loved to point out that God made us purposeful beings. You continue forward in life with clarity and intention.
“You will come to perceive life will not be outlined by the abundance of choices, but by the weight of the alternatives that you make within them,” she went on.

Social media users quickly highlighted that the seemingly drowsy person behind her bore a striking resemblance to former Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak, 79.
One observer commented, “Is that Pat Sajak?! Looks like him. The dude in the background is falling asleep, though. Must be actually uninteresting.”
Another chimed in, “Is that Pat Sajak? He seems like he did not know she’d be there.”

Despite the backlash, Charlie’s wife did receive support from at least one individual who focused on her address, stating, “Erika Kirk delivering a graduation handle is a great alternative to inspire graduates with management, dedication, and confidence for the future. Wishing all the graduates success as they start their next chapter.”
Sajak holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Hillsdale College and previously delivered the commencement address in 2024.
Last month, Erika appeared in a long-sleeved black top with a matching cap during her most recent podcast episode. On April 29, she expressed frustration about the hostility directed at her from political commentator Candace Owens and comedian Druski.

“I’ve comedians dressing up in white face,” she noted, referencing Druski’s viral sketch. “I’ve people saying I’m not match to be a CEO.
“And I have Candace Owens claiming I murdered my husband,” she called out the media persona before including, “And the list goes on and on and on.”
