FBI names Mohamed Sabry Soliman as suspect in | Political News
The FBI has recognized the suspect of the Boulder terror assault as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman.
The company confirmed that Sobry Soliman had yelled “Free Palestine” while lighting the peaceable protestors on fire on Sunday afternoon. Six people, ages 67 to 88, have been injured in the assault. At least one is critically injured after struggling life-threatening burns.
“Sadly, attacks like this are becoming too common across the country,” said Mark Michalek, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Denver field office.
“This is an example of how perpetrators of violence continue to threaten communities across our nation.”
The suspect has been accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at a pro-Israel demonstration Sunday afternoon.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis condemned the incident and mentioned that “hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable.”
Colorado’s Attorney General Phil Weiser, a descendant of Holocaust survivors, added that the assault seems to be “a hate crime given the group that was targeted.”
The pro-Israel demonstration was organized by Run For Their Lives, a world group shaped in the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist assault.
Local chapters of the group have cropped up across the nation primarily in closely Jewish communities, in which members goal to go on weekly walks in their neighborhood, advocating for the release of the Israeli hostages in Gaza.
Boulder’s Jewish neighborhood launched a joint assertion condemning the assault while sending their ideas and prayers to those who have been attacked.
“We are saddened and heartbroken to learn that an incendiary device was thrown at walkers at the Run for Their Lives walk on Pearl Street as they were raising awareness for the hostages still held in Gaza,” they wrote.
“Our hearts go out to those who witnessed this horrible attack, and prayers for a speedy recovery to those who were injured. When events like this enter our own community, we are shaken. Our hope is that we come together for one another. Strength to you all.”
