Fighter speaks out after collapsing on stage ahead | MMA News
UFC 324 is upon us, and followers are being handled to a enjoyable struggle card to start the 12 months. The event boasts must-see matchups from top to backside, but we will likely be one short heading into Saturday evening.
While all eyes will likely be on the main card, with a number of intriguing clashes happening, a critical concern with fighter health was raised on Friday when Cameron Smotherman, immediately after weighing in, collapsed on stage.
The visible of Smotherman falling and faceplanting the ground was unsettling for most.

Despite fainting, Cameron Smotherman was in good spirits after releasing a video on social media.
Though many thought-about his weight cut to be the main issue that prompted Smotherman to lose consciousness, the 28-year-old dismissed that notion.
“I, obviously, have gotten a lot of messages and I appreciate all of the genuine concern about me,” Smotherman said on Instagram. “I’m completely ok. I’m good.”
“I’m not entirely sure what happened. I see a lot of people online saying, ‘Oh, it was a crazy weight cut.’ And stuff like that. I genuinely didn’t cut very much weight for this fight. I came in pretty, you know, low.”

“Over the course of this week, I haven’t cut much weight. I’m not entirely sure what happened. I have some more tests and stuff to take in the coming weeks to get to the bottom of it. But, for all the people saying I must have done a crazy cut or something like that, I cut very, very little weight.”
Smotherman went on to apologise to Ricky Turcios, his scheduled opponent for UFC 324, and hopes to return to the octagon in the close to future once he has a stronger understanding of his health.
“Yeah, I’m not sure what happened. But I appreciate the concern. I’m completely ok and I’ll hopefully be back soon. I apologise to my opponent.”
