Flailing CNN Pushing Fake News Story Published | Political News
Overnight, Tesla responded to the Wall Street Journal’s determination to publish a story late on Wednesday about Elon Musk’s future with the EV company–one that Tesla says the publication knew was pretend information. In the story, the WSJ quotes nameless sources allegedly “familiar with the discussions” that the company started a search in April for a CEO to substitute Musk. But it was one other media outlet’s leaping on the story that is troubling. More on that later.
Tesla Board of Directors chair, Robyn Denholm, fired back in an X post:
Earlier right this moment, there was a media report erroneously claiming that the Tesla Board had contacted recruitment companies to provoke a CEO search at the company.
This is completely false (and this was communicated to the media before the report was printed).
The CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk and the Board is very assured in his capacity to proceed executing on the thrilling growth plan forward.

Here’s a helpful timeline of the late Wednesday occasions surrounding the story
Something is severely incorrect right here:
At 9:00 PM ET final night time, WSJ determined to report that Tesla had begun a search for “a CEO to succeed Elon Musk.”
At 9:21 PM ET, we posted that we have been skeptical of the report and that it could doubtless be denied.
At 1:23 AM ET, Tesla responded… pic.twitter.com/kCktNLlntx

The post continues:
At 1:23 AM ET, Tesla responded stating the report “is absolutely false.”
quarter-hour later, @ElonMusk mentioned there was “an unequivocal denial beforehand by the Tesla board.”
The worst half?
WSJ’s source was “according to people familiar with the discussions.”
Why would WSJ report a market-moving headline on the ninth largest public company in the world after the board itself explicitly denied it?
Indeed, Musk did title and disgrace the publication in an outraged response post on his X account:
It is an EXTREMELY BAD BREACH OF ETHICS that the @WSJ would publish a DELIBERATELY FALSE ARTICLE and fail to embrace an unequivocal denial beforehand by the Tesla board of administrators! https://t.co/9xdypLGg3c
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 1, 2025
He wrote that the WSJ gave “an EXTREMELY BAD BREACH OF ETHICS,” by working what he termed “a DELIBERATELY FALSE ARTICLE,” while “fail[ing] to include an unequivocal denial beforehand by the Tesla board of directors!”
We’ve beforehand written about Musk’s deliberate scaling back of his duties with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and it is not the first time there’s been pretend information on him in current days, as my colleague Bob Hoge wrote.

Oddly, this story also drew a response from the Office of the NYC Comptroller, Brad Lander, who writes in snarky X post that “[he] called for a lawsuit against @Tesla after their stock prices plummeted while @ElonMusk played fake president.” He goes on to urge the board to “do the right thing now & remove Elon from his side job as CEO.”
The capper, though, which I famous as troubling, was that CNN ran with the story final night time, too, as their show “The Source” devoted over 5 minutes to a sit-down with WSJ reporter. Emily Glazer, on the breaking story she co-authored
As you’ll be able to watch your self at the hyperlink above, the community’s Jake Tapper also invited the panelists on his earlier program to speak about Musk stepping back from his WH function.
It would take all day of course to record all of the false or unresearched “journalism” that flailing CNN has tried to move off as information over the years. Still, it is important to maintain them to account, whenever the Democrats’ media hangers-on and different allies strive every part they’ll make nothingburger pretend information like this into one thing.Â
