U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) was indicted on federal costs Wednesday, accused of pilfering $5 million from federal catastrophe funds and utilizing some of the money to assist her 2021 marketing campaign, according to a assertion from the Justice Department.

The Democrat is alleged to have siphoned off overpayments from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which her household health care company had acquired through a federally funded COVID-19 vaccination staffing contract, said federal prosecutors.
