Former Army head says Trump war in Iran | Political News
Retired U.S. Army Col. Kurt Schlichter praised President Donald Trump’s Iran war at the Conservative Political Action Conference and said the president’s decisive motion will guarantee victory.
Supporters and fanatics of Trump and the Republican Party, including Schlichter, had been out in full pressure on Friday during the second day of the CPAC.
“I think we’re kicking the crap out of them and I like it,” Schlichter, 61, told Daily Express US. “I think this is an amazingly well-planned, executed, and supported mission.” It comes after US service members had been wounded while Trump made a controversial joke on stage.
The Gulf War vet, who was initially deployed in 1987, admitted that he believes the Iranians would win a ground battle, however. “We’re dominating every sphere of the battle space except for ground,” he said.
“I think it’s inevitable that they’re going to take advantage of the dearth of leadership,” he added. “We’re on the C-list right now.”

Schlichter said he doesn’t believe the U.S. will be drawn into a land invasion, at least in any major sense, and added that such an operation is “not the way in which this will get resolved.”
But he did outline several ways a ground invasion might unfold.
“When you say forces on the ground, that means a lot of different issues,” he said. “You can have 10 guys on the ground doing one thing that’s not D-Day.”
“Are we wanting at a major amphibious assault? Probably not,” the Desert Storm veteran continued. “I feel the Marines there present a real risk to Kharg Island, but you may have an impact without truly pulling the set off.”
“So, do I feel that we’re going to have a major ground pressure in Iran? No,” Schlichter emphasized. “That’s not the way in which this will get resolved.”

He added that a ground operation is already underway on the Israeli side, by the looks of things.
“There’s clearly ground operations now by the Israelis because they’re using drones, small-scale drones against tactical formations like the security forces,” he said. “So, I’m fairly sure there are at least Israeli particular forces and brokers on the ground.”
But to resolve the conflict, which has been raging for nearly a month, Schlicter said the U.S. and its forces should “continue doing what [they’re] doing.”
He added, “We’re going to kill them until they beg us to stop and a new strong man comes in as a transitional authorities.”
He then painted a hypothetical situation about how such a transition of power might unfold.
“It’s going to be a colonel or a basic with a division that hasn’t been utterly worn out. And he is going to get a cellphone call from an unknown quantity, and it is going to be somebody talking Farsi,” Schlichter explained. “And he is going to say, ‘I’ve acquired the deal of the century for you. How would you want to not only not die, but truly be in charge of your own? All you bought to do is convey your division over and clear out some of these holdouts.'”
Schlichter added that, should this hypothetical leader fail to comply, they would be put on “the naughty record.” And that, Schlichter said, means “you die.”
“I imply, fairly plain and simple proper there,” he coldly said. “You always go to kill the management. Remember, as Clausewitz instructed, war is solely politics with other means. A war is always to obtain a political end.”

“You’re going to pressure their authorities to do one thing. Often, you do that by altering the federal government,” he continued. “This is how it really works. What we would like to do clearly is set up a authorities that would not need to fund terrorism and present a risk to us or our ambiance.”
Schlicter tipped his head back and laughed when asked about rumors of a draft, however.
“God, people have to stop being dumb,” he said. He went on to highlight the policies Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has implemented during his tenure, including turning away prospective service members based on their identities or presentations.
“First of all, we’re turning away guys under Pete Hegseth. We’re turning away people,” he said. “If you are like, ‘Oh, properly, I used to be a soccer star with straight A’s at the University of College, and I’ve acquired 20-10 imaginative and prescient, and I can do 500 pushups,’ they’re like, ‘OK, you are on a ready record to be a pilot.'”
That being said, he added that there are “loads who are keen to be a part of up to do the roles needed to be performed” — negating the need for a draft altogether.
“It’s not a matter of our bodies. And this combat is not a matter of our bodies,” he said.
And President Donald Trump, he said, understands that.
“The good factor is, Donald Trump understands that it is either a victory or a defeat,” he said.
“And bear in mind, the war is political. So Donald Trump just isn’t going to go on the market and go, ‘Yeah, I did not get it performed,'” he added. “He understands and has understood for many years why it is important to get rid of the mulls.”
