Heading into UFC 314, many believed light-weight star Paddy Pimblett was going through his hardest take a look at. “The Baddy” took former title challenger Michael Chandler within the struggle card’s co-main occasion and largely dominated the previous three-time Bellator light-weight champion.
It wasn’t that Pimblett beat Chandler, it was how he did it. He gained the hanging exchanges, managed Chandler on the ground and ultimately punched and elbowed his solution to a third-round TKO end. It was an spectacular show that earned Pimblett a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus.
Former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has been impressed with Pimblett for some time and believes Pimblett rises to the event.
“Paddy is outstanding,” Whittaker mentioned on the MMArcade Podcast. “Since he switched on and starting putting a beating on people, since he stopped mucking around as much, I just love seeing what he’s doing. You can see, the harder the competition the more you’re getting out of Paddy.
“There’s no doubt in my thoughts that that wasn’t the best model of Chandler we have ever seen. That seemed like a Chandler that is sick of getting hit. He’s sick of the work that it takes to get there. He’s a little gun-shy as a result of he does not wish to – He appears like he is form of over it. That’s the vibe I got from him in that struggle” continued Whittaker.

“Regardless of the model of Chandler you get, he’s nonetheless so harmful,” Whittaker added. “He simply had such control over Chandler. And Chandler is an explosive, robust dude. Paddy was throughout him… Paddy seemed big. Chandler got manhandled. He (Pimblett) impressed the heck out of me.”
