Former Washington star Tre Johnson dies suddenly…

Former NFL Pro Bowl guard Tre’ Johnson has died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 54 while on a journey with his household, his devastated spouse revealed.

Johnson, who performed for Washington and the Cleveland Browns during his profession, died Sunday, his spouse Irene wrote on Facebook

He had been battling health points before his death.

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my husband, Tre’ Johnson, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday February 15, 2026, during a brief family trip,” she said.

“His four children, Chloe, EJ, EZ and Eden, extended family, friends, and I are devastated and in shock. We will miss him so much.”

His trigger of death has not yet been revealed.

Johnson, who grew to become a historical past instructor in Maryland, following his retirement, was described by Irene as a “devoted father” and somebody who liked French bulldogs and motorbikes. 

Johnson, an offensive guard, performed faculty soccer for Temple University before being drafted by Washington in 1994 as a second spherical choose.

He performed for Washington through 2000, spent 2001 with Cleveland and returned to Washington for a closing 12 months in 2002. Irene said the athlete was identified for his “durability and strength” during his profession at Washington.

The 6-foot-2, 328-pound guard was a Pro Bowl choice in 1999.

After retiring from soccer, he taught historical past at the Landon School in Bethesda – a non-public faculty situated exterior Washington DC. Johnson had been compelled to take a depart of absence, his spouse said.

The Commanders has paid tribute to Johnson.

“We’re heartbroken to learn of the loss of former Washington All-Pro guard Tre’ Johnson,” the workforce wrote on X.

“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
